Getting started

What exactly is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM you install on a compatible phone. It gives you travel data without a plastic SIM, and it does not replace your phone number.

How do I activate it?

Install the eSIM from your phone settings before you fly, then turn that line on when you land. The plan length starts when you connect in the destination, not when you scan the QR.

When should I install the eSIM?

Install it on your phone before you leave, while you still have Wi-Fi. Turn the travel line on only when you land. The days do not start at install.

Do I need to remove my regular SIM?

No. Leave your regular SIM in the phone. Add the travel eSIM beside it and choose the travel line for mobile data.

Activation

Where is my QR code?

It is on the order screen after checkout and in the email you enter for delivery. You can also type the SM-DP+ address and activation code manually.

The QR will not scan. What now?

Use the manual details on the order screen: SM-DP+ address and activation code. On iPhone, choose Enter Details Manually. On Android, look for the same option under Add eSIM.

I installed it and I have no data yet.

The line stays quiet until you are in the destination. After you land, turn the travel line on, set it as the mobile data line, and enable data roaming for that line only.

Using data & hotspot

Can I use a hotspot?

Yes. You can share the eSIM data with a personal hotspot. Hotspot use draws from the same GB.

How do I see data used?

The order screen shows a data ring for the plan you bought. Your phone also shows usage for that line under mobile data settings.

What does unlimited mean?

Unlimited plans do not have a GB cap for the days you choose. Fair use on a local network can still apply during very heavy use. The day length is the one you select at checkout.

Calls & SMS

Does it include calls and SMS?

No. Plans are data only: no local phone number, regular calls, or SMS. WhatsApp, FaceTime and other internet calling apps work over the data connection.

Can people call my usual number?

Your usual number stays on your regular SIM. If that SIM can receive calls while you are abroad, it still can. The onaroam plan does not add a second phone number.

Payments & refunds

Which payment methods can I use?

Checkout offers UPI, cards and netbanking. The amount is in rupees.

Can I get a refund?

If the eSIM never activates on a compatible, unlocked phone, email us within 30 days of purchase. The refund policy has the steps. Plans that have already connected and used data are not refunded.

Where do I send the QR?

Enter the email you check while travelling. We send the QR there and also show it on the order screen.

Is onaroam legit?

Is onaroam legit?

on a roam sells travel eSIM data on onaroam.com. You choose a destination and a data plan, pay in rupees, and get a QR code by email and on screen. Plans are data only. If an eSIM does not activate on a compatible, unlocked phone, the refund policy explains how to ask for the money back. About, privacy, terms and refunds are linked in the footer.

Who do I contact?

Email hello@onaroam.com. The contact page lists the address and grievance officer when those details are published.
